Default cant figure it out?

I've just joined the forum bc i cant figure out whats wrong with my 85' rwd fleetwood brougham that has the 4.1 4100series dfi engine. Sometimes when im driving and trying to hold the accelerator steady it will start jerking constantly until i step on the gas hard to make the jerking stop. Also sometimes when i come to stop lights it will turn off andill have to crank it right up again. The codes i get when i hold the hot and off button it give me 20 and 52 sometimes 53.Here's a list of part that i have changed fuel pump only(not the sending unit),tps, fuel regulator, fuel filter, egnition module, spark plugs,sp wires, rotor, coil, distributor cap.She only acts up when she wants to any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Hey Cadworks: Had the same sort of problem when I bought my 81 FW Brougham. Changed out the ECM and it ran like a charm, not saying that this is your problem but a reconditioned ECM was $160.00 so not too off the chart. If you have the DFI then also clean the throttle body chamber. Hope this helps.

ECM's are avail from salvage yards from $50 to $150 ?
some provide a guarantee, and the price climbs with that.

a suggestion?
unplug the harness from the ECM, give it shot of contanct cleaner
and then grease it (dielectric grease) .. it is not uncommon for a
30 year old car to have oxidized contacts .. you got nothing to losse.

if you do get a replacement, be sure to grease that one ...

i had a failure of a '87 issue ECM, spent 3 months finding a exact
replacement, (vehicle parked all summer) and paid $75. when i went
to replace it, noticed that the original unit had oxidized contacts .. did
as i said above and voila .. original woks fine.
ok .. so now i got a spare

Just got back from the junk yard and purchased a used ECM for 25 bucks w/warranty bc the guy who sold it to me thought it was a factory amp.So i sprayed the harness w/contact cleaner and added dielectric grease and she started up fine like she used to and my service soon engine light went off. Now she works fine so far.The site has become very useful for me and i want to thank everyone for their replies and useful tips.thks
