ok i started to pull the trans out of my 94 sts today i cant get the drivers side cover off .do you need to get the trans out to get it off? it looks like it has some bolts behind it that need to come out to drop the trans. i just cant get to them with that cover on

I'm not really following you all that well, but no, the side cover does not need to be removed until the trans is out of the car.

The top 2 bellhousing bolts are under the throttle body behind the wiring harness. difficult to see 18mm head.
The rear bellhousing bolt (15mm head) is hidden.
Some find a way to get it from the top, others (me) from the bottom.
Either way you can't see it, only feel it.
I use a short 15mm ratcheting wrench, although its tough to break the bolt loose some times.
The front bell bolt is the only one that is easy to get to. it's 18mm head also
