Needs to be hooked up to an OBD scanner and the faulty module or wiring repaired. There is no per se "service" to be done. The system self checks modules and wiring integrity on every start up. Its seeing a fault somewhere. Whats the cars history. By that I mean, was it ever in an accident? Is it out of warranty by mileage? Have you checked for possible recalls or bulletins regarding this issue? Best money spent would be to have a shop scan it and report codes found. Then decide to tackle it yourself or not. Also a GM dealer will run a VIN history to determine recalls, if any, need addressed.

Thanks.Yes the car was in an accident, but I was told the airbags did not deploy. If there was an issue with the airbags before.I can;t see drive 1100 miles, and everything was fine. And all of a sudden the Airbag light comes on.also I noticed the volume dial on the sterring wheel is not responding happen at the same time as the airbag light. Thanks

Possible clock spring faulty in steering hub. But still needs scanned to verify.

A clock spring guess is just that, a guess. The clock spring has to do with the air bag only. Get it diagnosed

Well,I took it in to get diagnosed,And they said it was the SIR Coil.Which is a harness that runs along the sterring column, which also connects to the volume wheel dial, and relates to the airbag.I assume when I was using the volume dial, something shorted out and also effected the airbag service light. The part # is 26103420 and 265.00 dollars.Once I install it and if it works it I will post it.May help someone else down the road. Thanks again carnut.

Owners manual should verify this, basic car warranty covers air bags. Shoulder belts, seat belts have a sometimes longer warranty. The difference is one is a restraint (belts) the other is a suplemental restraint (air bags) Google your cars warranty to verify
