I'm a new cadillac owner and saw this forum and my eyes lit up! So i bought the car a couple of days ago and had no problems. Was driving it home (about a 3 hour drive) and i had about 30 minutes left to the house and it died on me as i was giving it gas at a intersection...wouldnt start back up, would turn the key to the on position, and everything was good, tried to start it up and the dash lights turned off. Everything worked fine until i would try to start it up.This went on for about 5 minutes, then started back up as if nothing happened. Really puzzled me. Have the car at a local mechanic right now but he says he cant find anything wrong with it. Would REALLY appreciate some of you alls cadillac expertise! Thank You

 

Not a expert but sounds like a bad battery connection. Either the positive wire orthe ground wire are not getting good contact.

 

imo, Starter.... does the starter operate slow when it does start?

no, the car starts up great. I'm going to have the car back tomorrow and i will check it out.

 

you are describing a classic "ground issue" .. start at the battery, remove grounds, clean, apply di-electric grease and reconnect.

the next suspects would be a faulty alternator, old/weak battery.

so i just got back from the mechanic to pick up the car...AND IT WOULDNT START!!! just like what happened after it died. It would lose ALL power whenever i would try to start it up. He keeps telling me its the starter, but it wouldnt lose all the power like that if it was the starter would it???? HELP ME PLEASE!

 

and he had just got back from driving it around town a little bit.
