Hey everyone first timer here, I got a 96 sts and it has been sittin for like 6 months I parked it becasue of gas prices and I just put a new battery in it today and tried to start it and it will crank but not start. The message center saysservice fuel system. What could it be? Fuel filter what? I saw another post saying it could be fuel pump relya but I dont know where that might be. Any ideas need help I cant even roll it the brakes are stuck. Thanks.

thats my problem I dont know where to start either. It was an everyday driver until I got another car about 6-7 months ago and then I let it sit with almost no gas in her. I wanted to start her up and drive it around the other day and when I did the strarter would work fine but it wouldnt turn over. Then the message service fuel system came on. The car has about 145k on it and I figure that it might be a clogged fuel filter, but I dont know I havent tried it yet. Any one have any ideas where to start lookin. I have never had any problems with the car whatsoever until now.

 

check wiring under vehicle, i bet while it was sitting a rodent thought your wiring to the fuel pump looked tasty

 

just a suggestion, and guess...... does this guy have water....bad gas?............. Joes96sts, throw some dry gas into your fuel tank......???? for the small expense, i'd start there. let the Forum know what you have done. these guys are very helpfull.....you'll see...WELCOME to the FORUM
