Default 4-6-8 engine

I have a "81 caddy deville that has the 4-6-8 engine. Could someone tell me what the procedure is to disconnect and make a straight 8 ?
Thanks for any responses,
Jim

This is from memory so bear with me! On the driver side of the transmission is a switch just above the pan rail. A wire goes to that switch, I believe its orange? Unplug that wire. Years ago I ran this wire up to an on/off toggle switch on the dash. I drove in 8 cyl mode most times. Once on the freeway, I would flip the switch to engage 4 cyl mode. More important now with $4.50 gas!

Hey Jim: I have the Factory Service Manuals for your car if you are interested in finding out what the system is all about. I have the electrical and mechanical manuals for the 81 year.

Hey Jim: I paid $ 85 for the electrical manual and $55 for the mechanical manual. They both hold a wealth of information on the 81 model year. What would you like to have?? Most issues that are difficult to analyse are electrical in nature. What would you like to do??
