Default 2008 Cadillac CTS

I have a quick question. My check engine light was on. Had it read at Autozone. It said my cylinders 2,4,6 were misfiring. So, I replaced all 6 spark plugs and put new ignition coils as well replaced two of the camshaft sensors. Clear codes and ran it for 100 miles. It’s still reading I’m having a misfire for the same cylinders 2,4,6. Do y’all know what that might be?? Some say it’s the timing chain and it’s sniping a tooth. If so, can that be it? Is it worth fixing? Thank you.

How many miles do you have on the car ? And what engine is it? If it is a V6 and those cylinders are all on the same side I think you are closer to an answer.

Default Hello. Thanks for responding.

I have 162,000 on the caddy. It’s not a straight 6. It is a V6, 3.6L.

Default Also, another thing.

I had the engine rebuilt like 6 or 7 months ago. Spent $3,800 on it.

Sending a pic of my engine. It has 3 spark plugs on each side of engine.

2,4,6 is the cylinders on the right side of the engine (drivers side). That could mean a right side timing chain issue, a sensor, or a third possibility. You said the engine was rebuilt 6 or 7 months ago? I would check and see if they put in new timing chains on. What did they rebuild?

I don’t know exactly what they rebuilt. I had asked him. He said the timing chain was fine when they rebuilt the motor. But, they had taken apart my engine completely and rebuilt the engine.

well i think for $3800 its not unreasonable for you to know what they did for your rebuild. After 6 or 7 months you should not have to change a timing chain. A timing chain kit is roughly $175 plus labour. If they removed the engine, did pistons and rings along with valves and valve springs, the timing chain should have been done since it is now 4-6 hours of labour to do that job for sure. When they remove the heads to do whatever rebuild they did, they would have to remove the timing chain anyhow.

Getting back to your original question, it sounds to me like a timing chain issue. If i were you, I would talk tot he rebuilder first. The common denominator for all 3 cylinders on the right side is pointing to a timing chain. The rebuilder has some splainin to do.
