So my friend is selling me a 1990 cadillac deville with 63,000 miles for $4000. I has been in this old ladies garage for the past decade. Im pretty sure this is a good deal but I just wanted to know what you guys think.
Also, how reliable are devilles? Will I have to continuously put money into it tokeep it running?
My dad said that since it is so old there will probably be a lot of things going wrong with it. He's no mechanic though. I want to have this car for a long time and wont really have much money to put into it if things go wrong
What do you guys think?

 

Well, first of all, the KBB value on this car is $2175.00 , so your 'friend' is asking you for nearly double what the car is worth. As far as reliability, I am assuming that it has a 4.5 liter engine in it and my own experience with the 4.5 has been very good. Put over 200,000 on my 1990 Eldo with minimal problems. If you do decide to buy it, I would recommend that the first thing you do is to change all the fluids and filters since the car has been sitting so long. Change the engine oil and filter, fuel filter , and drain and refill the cooling system with new coolant. Also flush the entire brake system with new fluid , since brake fluid is very prone to absorbing moisture. AS far as the electricals, such as power windows, doorlocks, etc. these are things that can fail even in much newer cars, so don't be discouraged if you have a problem with them as they can be easily repaired. Really? I looked up blue book prices and it totaled to $3000 - 3500. He said that it is gold key edition also...Do you know ifthat adds value or is even legit?
