Default Hello my fellow caddy owners!!!

Finnally I get a chance to go out and get my sts I always wanted!!!I'm looking at a 98 and a 99 model,I would like to know if I should stay away from these years for any reason, and I will tell you why these years appeal to me.I looked at lowering springs and you can only get eibach 1" coils for the 98-99 years, and the 98-99 are govern'd at 150 mph and the newer years are 130 mph.I test drove a 99 sts with a corsa cat back system and I fell in love!!!What a nice sound...and only when you wanna hear it.I look at the corsa system and it says 99-04...it wont work on the 98 and why?I know the first year of a model is not usually a good choice to buy,but I found a 98 black on grey with 60k miles 4 small dents and a 99 black on black with 60k and alot more dents, the 99 has the corsa cat back but when I checked the oil dip stick and it was down at the bottom...I told the dealer that I can't buy it cause it has no oil in the engine,His response was half the cars on my lot nees a quart of oil...when the oil is all the way at the bottom..I would say it needs abit more than 1 litre!!!So if anyone out the can tell me about the 98 and 99 and on situation, the eibach springs, corsa cat-back system It would be greatly appretiated!!!Thanks a bunch!!!!!

I personally have a '97 Cadillac STS, the car runs great for the most part aside from some minor things I've had to replace... no more than any other car. The only complaint I've mainly heard with the majority of Cadillacs in the late 90's is that they have a problem with burning oil off quite frequently. It is a problem in mine as well.

Other than that though, I'd say go for it, they are overall great vehicles. I'd say go for it.

I cannot comment on the aftermarket items you want. '98 was the first year of Cadillac's 5-year build-cycle, so there might be "quirks" there. I also believe that top speed was limited, even in 1998, according to the speed rating of the factory installed tires, and 150 (or 149) mph was with Z-rated rubber only.
