Default Beter Than Cell Phon

No it wouldn't because planes will be fitted with special base stations which use satellites to send information back to the network. If you were to leave your mobile phone on currently on a flight it wouldn't work because the radio base station antennas point slightly downward. Trials have been done with in flight mobile calls successfully and sites developed to incorporate into the plane so in the next few years it's likely to be common to be able to use them. The main stumbling block is the amount of cash that's made from using the on board phones fitted to most aircraft.
