Default Air Shocks on the Lift

Dear Seville Enthusiasts,

My mechanic recently asked me to locate the air shock on/off switch before he raised my 98 STS up on the lift. He eventually settled for the valet switch in the glove box, thinking that was the switch, but I don't believe it is. This is the first time that a mechanic has asked me that question. Is flipping a switch for the air shocks necessary...I imagine the car has been lifted before without flipping a switch?

Thanks, alan

Cadillac never had disable switch for ELC. So no worries.
