Default transmission vent hose .. Where does this go? 99 SLS

I was installing a new EGR valve in my 1999 Cadillac SLS today and I noticed something strange. There is a hose with a squared metal fitting on one end and the other end is connected to the top of the transmission. The hose is made of fairly thick rubber and is about a foot long. It comes out of the transmission almost directly under the master cylinder. The strange thing is is that it goes no place. I can't find a place on the engine to connect that metal fitting to. Does this just stay like this? I've checked the GM shop manual for the car and there is no mention of this nor can I find any pictures. Does anyone have any idea what this is and if it needs to be connected anywhere? Any help is appreciated.

No where. It is the vent for transmission, it normally will have a clip or two to hold / locate it.

Cool! Thanks. There was no clip(s). Probably broke off. I'll tie it off somewhere to keep it from rattling.

Thanks again!
