Default Sticking Gas Pedal

Greetings!

Ref.: 1999 Seville STS

The last few days I have noticed that after using the car and parking up for bit, when I re-start the car the gas pedal seems to stick/be very stiff. Once depressed it seems to revert back to normal.

However, just yesterday it was stuck hard, so hard I thought something must be lodged under the pedal and stopping it move. I had to stamp on the pedal to release it (only done this the once).

I had the car serviced last week and everything was fine, they lubricated the accelerator mechanism in the engine bay and checked for frayed cables but everything was ok.

Anyone else encountered this problem?

Regards,

Craig

Carbon build up on throttle plate/body, most likely cause.

Default Cleaning Throttle Body

The throttle body is easy to clean with a clean shop towel, toothbrush, and carburetor tune-up conditioner. Put some weight on the gas pedal to open the throttle full.

Do not use a solvent containing MEK because it will ruin the plenum and intake seals.
