Default NEED SERIOUS HELP PLEASE

Hey Guys, I have a 96 sls...car has been running great, last week I got an oil change, they put in 5w30 syn blend, i wanted 10w30 but they told me it should be alright, here is the problem that i have i went to the store been driving the car all day on and off, well came out of the store and started up, the motor started pinging and knocking pretty loudly, sound like it is coming from the front head...like valves or lifters...its pretty loud...i have been reading and reading through the whole forum and cant find anyone that has talked about this problem...the car has 146000 i beleive the motor has been replaced...don't know for sure...but looks like it...anyway this is my only transportation and i really dont know what to do...it is a very loud popping?knock sound coming from front head, if anyone can help that would be so wonderful

dont drive it! metal pinging noises are never good. get it to a mechanic asap so they can tear it down and find out what is broken. if you continue to drive it, you risk futher and costlier damage. good thing its on the front head since thats much easier to work on! could be just about anything based on your description. no way to know until you tear it down. good luck... let us know what it ends up being.
