Default Need More Leg Room

Is it possible to move the driver’s seat back farther than factory default ?

I have a 2004 Seville SLS and love the car but could use a couple more inches of leg room to be really comfortable. If this is possible, is this something a good mechanic could do ? Is there perhaps an after market “something” to accomplish this ?

Thanks … Tom

it is done all the time. usually to change out the OEM seats,
but the reason matters not.

sometimes by extending the rails you got,
sometimes by remounting the rails you got.
sometimes by making adapters.

call seat retail shops, they are likley to know the tricks needed if any.
(i start here)

call around your local mom & pop shops for the custom jobs.

heck, even try the dealer. if there is a GM approved way, they will tell you.

one guy will swear it is impossible and the next guy will tell you he has done 100 such jobs.
I can tell you that from personal exp on the Allante.

Stealth,

Thanks for the quick reply. That's really good news. I just took mySeville into the dealer for the first time this morning(some cosmetic warrenty work - my bumper-to-bumper runs out at the end of the year - just bought the car three months ago) . I'll askthe service manager aboutthis seat position thingwhen I pick it up.

It hit me this morning when they gave me a 2007 DTS loaner andI realized how much more comfortable having more leg room was.

Thanks again .... Tom

As a follow-up to my inquiry regarding a Driver’s Seat modification to get a little more leg room, I asked the Cadillac Service Advisor about this when I picked up my car yesterday. He claimed that he heard that it had been done by some basketball player and that he had it done in California (???). He also claimed it was illegal ? His brief explanation as to why it was illegal didn’t make any sense and I didn’t push the issue.

I'll check with a couple of trim shops but I'll wait until after my warrenty expires.

The laws in most States won't allow any altering of seats, and SEAT BELTS. The liability for the one that does it is at stake.... I thought I dropped a line to you yesterday.... though I may have not sent it..???? anyway good luck with this.
