Hi All,

Just picked up a 98 Seville STS w/70K miles on it and it has one small problem, at least so far. When I open the drivers door with out using the key fob no interior lights come on. Also when I exit the car it seems that the Auto Exit does not always function. If I use the key fob, the lights come on OK... Also, it seems that the car "thinks" I have not opened the drivers door sometimes.. When I lock the doors with the FOB no horn... If I open and close the passenger door all seems fine...

i don't think its the BCM/RIM, think there is something in the door...

Anyone have any thoughts...

Door jam switch, but its not in door jam, its made into lock/ latch assembly.

 

Thanks for the fast response... Is this something can be replaced with normal tools and is this the assemly in the door where the latching mech meeting the Pegs sticking out of the door jam?

Are there any suprise if I try to change this myself?

Its not hard to replace, But door trim panels DO NOT pull off !,they lift off.

 

Sorry.. Should have asked this before... Is this a electronicor mechnical thing? And I know its asking a lot, but would happen to know or can you get the part number.. crusied the web but can't seem to find the right thing...

Replaced the latch today and seems to be working great... thanks for the info...
