"Why? people drive the sound system and bass to FULL POWER and like anything else that is used at full power, they dont last as long."
..............That must not be the case thou with all systems, i note that i actually have my bass reduced from half to 1/4. all stock system. and sometimes it does sound intermitten, yet i dont always have radio turned up much..mayb thats why. So just buying another replacement bose should solve the problem just fine correct.

historically, audio systems performed best at the 50% to 75% of power with ample room for the tone PEAKS. This usually does not include a additional boost of BASS.

some of us cannot get enough bass .. so we push the systems to and often beyond the design limits. do it enough times and some of the more delicate components overheat and/or fail .. capacitors have a tendency to do that in any audio system.

i have a BOSE system at home and the speaker coils glow RED HOT, I often wonder how the speakers dont catch on fire .. you can see the red glow through the vents !

I know I'm asking too much of them, and I chance that some day, the coils will actually fail. I just love the bass, specially when playing Led Zep, B. Marley, & etc.....

here you got .. turn the volume to 99% and bass 100% .. and hold on!

Just bought a replacement used bose speaker for 99 sts. Installed it all was well for about 4 days and now its crackiling like a lose cone or something again...same thing before as my old one.
Why did this only work a few days perfectly then fail again anyone know? I dont blast this stero or have bass past half..and its only driver door twice in row now..
