Cadillac lies more and more. I called and said i had a door handle problem, the first thing they said was, You have an Escalade, right? they knew before I even said yes that this was a common problem only associated with the escalAde. of course they all deny it later if you start acting like you can't afford it.

Default Faulty escalade door handle

I had my first handle break on my 2008 escalade when it was 2 years old. That was fixed under warranty. I had another one break about 2 months ago and just yesterday another one broke. This last that broke I was actually opening the door when it happened and I certainly was not pulling on it to hard. I am planning on contacting the dealer to see what they can so. My wife wants to buy the new model 2015 next year and I have my concerns with purchasing another cadillac. I have never had an experience like this with my other cars which are German made.

Please Help Anyone!!! Does anyone know if there is an equivalent metal handle that can be used to replace the plastic one that comes originally and breaks for sure? I believe I read about maybe the Tahoe handle but I haven't been able to make sure. I got a message from Cadillac Customer Service to take my car to the dealer to get "appointment for vehicle diagnosis", this last week I haven't been able to do much cause of the weather and how difficult it gets just to open my door, having to go to the other side of the car to start the car, roll the window down and go to the driver's side to get in, definitely an ordeal, cold weather equals more pain, and that's what I've been dealing with, all I want is my car the way it supposed to be, with working door handles. Has anyone had any problems with the inside handles, the paint cracking and leaving the handles with sharp either plastic pieces or paint, another problem that should never happened if the right handles were installed when car was made. Help please! it is just getting colder here in Utah.

I recently purchased a 2007 Escalade with 44,000 miles and within days of owning it both of my rear door handles broke, separating from the door as described in all of these other posts (picture attached). I am surprised a recall has not addressed all of these issues by now. Initial calls to 2 local Cadillac dealers result in them telling me I am outside of warranty and it is now my $370 responsibility to fix Cadillac's faulty part that clearly has a history of defects.

I hope Cadillac stands behind thier luxury products as I just traded my extremely reliable Acura for a 2010 CTS4 last week so I now have 2 Cadillacs in my garage.

Default Broken door handle again.

I'm sorry on behalf of cadillac that your handle broke. I just had a third one break. There was a small amount of ice on the escalade from a storm which sealed the r/r passenger door. My son pulled on the door to open it and what he got was another door handle in his hand when he pulled it off. WOW!! Any way I have personally replaced four of them now, three for myself and one for a freind. It is a pretty easy fix. The part you can get on Ebay For $30 free shipping and replacing it is now about a 25 minute job. I'm thinking of going into business repairing Caddy door handles !! Either the mount, which is two plastic screw recepticles inside on the door but a part of the handle breaks, which is your case; or the handle itself breaks from the mount. It's a very poor design and cheap. GM does this so they can fit the same part on many different truck models fom GMC, Chevy, and Caddy to save them money. The company that they sublet this work to should be held responsible as well as the engineer who designed it and the design manager that approved the design. This tells me that GM needs to hire a better design team and engineers. Hint: look at Mercedes.
