i have a '98 and was wondering how to change the fuel filter. i am fairly mechanical having replaced the spark plugs and wires. should i do it myself?

It's not difficult at all.
Drivers side frame rail just in front of the rear tire.
If the fittings are rusty soak them with blaster before you try and break them loose.
Also keep an eye out for the small o-ring on the fuel line.
Sometimes its chewed up and needs to be replaced.
Othertimes it falls off when you pull the filter off and it gets lost.
It's kind of an oddball size oring, we keep plenty instock.

Make sure to relieve the fuel pressure before you take anything apart down under.
Use the schrader valve on the fuel rail when the engine is cold.
