R061, R062 - SIR Indicator Circuit Failure
Hey all -
The codes R061 & R062 (SIR Indicator Circuit & Redundant SIR Indicator Circuit Failure) have appeared in conjunction with these symptoms: Gas gauge reads E, Voltmeter reads 0.0, chiming constantly when lights are on, Twilight Sentinel not functioning, cruise control not functioning, remote fuel door/trunk release not functioning.
My troubles began when my alternator began to fail a few weeks ago, I have a feeling that the low voltage condition might have caused one of these sensors to heat up and blow out breaking the circuit... all fuses check out OK.
I did some searching, and I found two other threads on other forums with the same exact symptoms with the same codes thrown, I attempted to get in touch with these people as nobody had found a workable solution for them but the threads are a number of years old already and I got no response... The threads I found were here (94 DeVille problems) and here (R061,r062,gas Gage,no Volt, chime).
Does anybody have an insight on where to begin on this problem? Car is a 1995 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, 4.9L.
Thanks in advance

Hey matt! My name is Kevin I am the owner of a 1995 Cadillac and I am currently going through the same problem, I was wondering if you’d be able to help me out with how you got through this problem. I’ve been thinking about changing my fuel gauge but if you’d be able to tell me what fuse I can change instead id really appreciate it!
