Default Please Help!!98 Deville AC Compressor

I would like to thank everyone in advance for there input. I have just finished removing the AC compressor in my 98 Deville now before I put in the new one I would like some input so not to have to do this again. I know I need to oil the compressor but I am unsure on how much oil also I also will be replacing an inline filter looking device, but as of now I am unsure of where it goes as well as the dryer canister. I have been told some oil needs to go in to that as well??? Pleas help with any advise or if I am missing something feel free to corect me or add something.

Thanks
Daniel

The new compressor should come with instructions as to checking/adding oil.
Usually they have you measure the amount in the old compressor by draining it into a cup or other measuring container.
It usually ends up being around 2 - 3 ounces going in the new compressor.
Some new units have shipping oil that must be drained first, while others come full and ready to bolt on. Always follow the manufactures instructions.
Also back flushing the system while the compressor is off is a really good idea.
Ac***ulator(aka dryer) large aluminum canister right by the power steering pump. Add 1 ounce.
The inline filter looking thing, is it a white plastic tube about 2 inches long with a screen on it?
That would be the orifice tube and it goes in the high pressure line right before the evaporator.
Thats the long skinny line that runs across the entire firewall with a couple sensors attached to it.

Hope this helps.
