no gears!!!!!!!

Default no gears!!!!!!!

Started 93 deville. applied brake. pulled in and down on the gear shift. move absolutely freely up and down. orange bar that shows PRND didn't move. car didn't go into any gear. What can this be and how easy can it be to fix!?!?!

sounds like a shift cable let loose..... the car was fine the day before????? as far as a fix.... you got air-bags to contend with.... i think id taker some place....
let see if another tech will jump in on this.....

For the past few days I have been getting intermitent service vehicle soon messages. Sometimes I would first start the car and get the message. I would turn the car off and check the codes and get P091. I could start it three or four times after that and get the O.K. And sometimes after getting the o.k., while driving the service vehicle soon message.

Then today...shifter moves freely, no change from park. Checked code P091.

Hi,
I would look at the connection point at the transmission. This link tends to fail more than at the steering column. Would be a easy fix usually.
