low oil pressure?????

Default low oil pressure?????

98 deville 128k...over the last 2 weeks the car has had two to three instances where the low oil pressure,stop engine message was displayed on the drivers information center... after shutting off engine and allowing car to sit it seems to go away.has anyone else experienced this???the oil level was good and i am unsure as to where the oil sender lives on this car???can you remove the sender and install a temporary gauge to verify problem???any help would be appreciated..thanks c.f.

what is the quality of the oil....? i think if you havent had an oil change for a while, and the oil is broke down, that could possibly triger that. it is saying oil pressure, and not oil level, right? course the oil pump may have issues....

your thinking the sending unt is bad? could be. im sure someone will come alone to answer your specific question

I don't know about adding a stand alone aftermarket guage, but the sensor you are looking for is on the drivers side of the engine, above the transmission, near the coolant temp sensor. The level indicator sensor is down on the front of the engine near the oil pan. Hope this helps.

oil pressure switch screws into oil filter housing,it will behind bracket for front mount, low oil level switch in oil pan

thanks to all...i think i will try to get at the oil pressure switch this weekend.the quality of the oil is good and yes it was giving the "low oil pressure" message on the drivers display.we have been driving all week with no problems but i really would like to find if it is an actual oil pressure problem or just a sensor. thanks again
