Sounds like an electrical "glitch"
You did the right thing by having it towed to the nearest dealer.

Let us know how it turns out.

A low battery will trigger some false warning messages. Found that out 2 nights ago, had the key on for over an hour installing the Sirius upgrade to the stock XM. Lights must have been on too, did not know it. I got the service stability control message, check brakes, ect. it was just a dead battery

Truck was running at time of incident. However, this morning the battery was completely dead when transported to dealer. ?

I'd question the dealer then if they tested the alternator / battery for proper output. At the time of the incident I bet if you had left it running, the computer would have eventually lost power and the truck would have shut down by itself. The false warnings were just a symptom of the almost dead battery.

My perdiction, you have a bad alternator, it stopped charging the battery while you were driving, as the battery lost power the false warnings started and you (wisely) shut it down and called a tow truck thinking there was somthing wrong with the engine itself.
