Cruise Control & Coolant System Problems on 1989 Deville 4.5L non ABS
When I "Set" the cruise control it works like it should for about 2 miles, then it automatically shuts off by itself. After it shuts off my "Coolant Fan Temp" Indicator lamp will come on - on the dash. After it is illuminated it starts to flicker / flash on and off for a couple of seconds and it either shuts off or stays on. But after the indicator light shuts off i can't reset my cruise control back to the speed i had it at unless i completely shut my car off and resart it. I'm thinking it is the Electronic Control Module (ECM) (I really hope it's not) but I'm not sure because i havent had the time to diagnos and test it yet.

I had the same problem with mine except for the coolant light.
Solved last year by replacing the cruise control servo under the hood. Seems this is a common problem because the coils become too weak to keep the servo engaged.
Servo was about $250 as I remember. The new one failed after less than a year, got it replaced free because it was just under the 12 mo warranty!! How often does this happen?
