Default cadi wont start

i got a 83 deville 4.1 efi and its been sittin for 3 years and i tried to start it and it just turns over. it ran before it sat. it seems like its getting no fuel. could a fuel pump go bad from just sitting? it has a spark and will ignite ether but that is all it burns. any suggestions would be helpful.

Hey Mikey: Not enough information there dude. Did you put new fuel in the car, because fuel can go bad in as little as 6 months. Next you should put in new fuel filter which is probably the in line type. Go easy on the ether because you can shatter your exhaust manifold because of severe backfire. Use gasoline to prime the engine after the filter change. Blow out the fuel lines with compressd air as you do the new fuel change as well, that way you know that the fuel to the engine is not the problem. Take care and good luck.

I also have an 83 deville which sat for a long time. With a new battery the car would not start. I blew out both sides of the fuel line from the fuel filter. The car would run as long as you kept putting gas into the carburetor. However, when gas was not put into it, the engine would stop. I also disconnected the fuel line from the carburetor to see if gas was going to it. It was not. What do I do now? Fuel pump? Computer?

I'm not sure if i could help

i've an 81 deville 6l DFI

mine wont start after 5 years sitting, because the ECM has trouble codes and too high idle gas

@mikey250z do you hear the fuel pump when you try starting?
@dana the same do you hear the fuel pump during starting? the fuel pump has do work, you hear it.

maybe you have trouble codes on the car, try to read them out (on my car on the A/C panel off and warmer depressing until 88 comes and then the codes are displayed)

if one of you needs a manual for the fuel pump PN me and write me the email-address, then i can help maybe with information!
