I tried the trickle charger. The battery would never fully charge. I tried to start the car this morning ... nothing. The battery appears to be fairly old, so I am going to buy a new battery and put the trickle on once a week to keep it up. What battery do you recommend? from where? Thanks!

 

I always recommend the AC Delco replacement unit which you can obtain from any GM dealer or authorized AC Delco parts dealer. You also can't go too far wrong with a national brand that gives you a replacement warranty, a key consideration in a car not driven that much.Just make sure you get one with the correct Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). In a Cadillac more is better. Your current battery should list the CCA and your owners's manual will also detail this I believe.

 

also you can get an Optima battery,which is pricy but last longer thanmost other batteries andhas ample amounts of power and will start your car so much easier. plus if you are into adding more electronics i.e(subs and amps etc.) this battery is perfect.

 

i always recommend the GEL Optima and that is what my '88 Allante has.
that is what the Allanté will always get. why? after 4 years, there is:
no leakage,
no fumes,
no spills,
no low voltage conditions.

the GEL also has a reputation of NOT being drained when
the car is parked for long periods.

maybe it is time i import the data for the GEL battery into this site ..
if they just werent contraversial .. the GEL batteries that is.
