96 Cad Sedan Deville
I just bought this used cadi, its my first cadi, and I am pretty (noob like) when it comes to cars... I was driving a car before that always took regular unleaded so I accidentally filled the cadi with Reg when I first filled it... I then added octane booster and have just recently refilled it with a full tank of premium...
My problems thus far are:
-Service Engine light and Service Transmission Message both occasionally are on the DIC I don't know if this has anything to do with the reg. gas or not and I am kind of curious about the transmission because it seems to shift through gears fine...Do I need to change the Transmission fluid?...
-When the engine is cold and I go to start it upit hesitates... It never starts on the first try unless the engine was recently runnig. It always will start eventually and it never stalls out during regular driving.
Please Let me know anything you may know that can help...
Thanks

I'm no expert and new to Caddys as well, but would like to try and help.
Check engine could be several things. First thingto check if the gas cap is seated properly. My check engine turned out to be an air pump.
Not familiar with the 96, but my 04 does track transmission fliud life. So it could be time to change it. Probably a good idea to change the fliuds any way, unless you know the service records.
Maybe the fuel type is causing the hesitation problem? I would wait and see if a tank of premium solves that problem.
Hope this helps.

Hey thanks, heres my updated diagnosis...
I went to Auto Zone to have them put a handheld computer thing in, which can find the code that is triping the check engine light, apparently it is the turbine speed sensor, which turns out to be not all that bad of a problem... I still am curious about the hesitation... it starts up fine every morning which is weird... but if it has been sitting for say longer then 10 mins after I have been driving it, it will hesitate and take 2 to 3 good tries to start it.. while being cautious of flooding the engine ofcourse.... So my next guess is the starter is malfunctioning.... anyone have any ideas???
Any help is much appreciated Thanks
