1997 Deville oil light turn off engine now!! help
Hi all
I have a 1997 Deville the oil light would come on and says stop engine low oil pressure!. I can go for weeks without a problem but then that is what happens it can lastonce or twice or maybe for a few days. Also the car would die sometimes if you let off the gasalso.
I took the car into the dealership and they said it is the EGR valve does that sound like it could be causing the low oil pressure? I know the EGR could cause the dying but could it also cause the low oil pressure?
Thanks
Michael

If the EGR is sticking it can cause a rough idle or stalling.
If the engine speed (RPM) gets too low the low oil light could come on.
I would bet that it's 2 seperate problems.
You could have the oil pressure tested when the light comes on , but that can be difficult to catch if it only happens every couple weeks. I would put an oil pressure switch in and go from there.
I usually don't recommmed just throwing a part on without proper diagnostics, but it's cheap enough and i have seen sveral fail just the wayyou describe.
