Default 1997 alternator b1911 generator l terminal problem

[align=left]I have a 1997 deville 152,000 miles throwing the b1911 code and my dic says battery no charge
Should I assume the alternator is dead or is there a heat sink that could cause the problem
Looks like a lot of fun to change, how is the best way to get it out, my chilton says from the bottom but the pictures look wrong

Thanks for any help you can give
Bill

Don't yank that alternator just yet. Try measuring the voltage on the L terminal (red wire) while the motor is running. If there is voltage, there must be a problem in the circuit itself (open).

The alternator indeed comes out from below. It's gonna be easier (NOT easy!) if you drive up on a ramp.
