Steering Column Ticking

Steering Column Ticking
Just bought my first Caddy 4 days ago, a 2010 CTS with remote keyless entry. When I put the ignition control **** to the ACC position, a rapid ticking noise is coming from the steering column. When I depress the lockout button on the gear shift, the noise is extremely faint.
When the gear shift is then moved to R, N or D, the ticking goes away completely (with or without the locking button depressed), until the lever is returned to P and the shift lock button released.
Is this abbynormal?

Hi OscarNelsen,
While I can't offer you any diagnostic information, I can look at your vehicle's VIN and see if you have any applicable warranties left and give you that info. We recommend seeing your dealer should this be a concern to you. Please PM me your VIN and mileage and I will look into it for you.
Thank you,
Sara

Thanks Sara. Very impressed I got a response from Cadillac. I still have to figure out how to PM, but I purchased from a dealer and the car has only 7,200 miles. The bumper to bumper from GM expires 5/27/2015 or 50,128 miles.
This is not a mission critical failure. If I use ACCessory before I bring the car in for other service, I will set the parking brake and shift out of Park.
