Default Minor Leak/White Smoke/Hesitation

So, I have had my 2007 CTS Sport for about 2 months now and I love it. I have an appointment scheduled for next Wednesday but I wanted to get an idea of what might be wrong before I go in.

There is a very minor leak from the center of the rear axle, I can't identify the fluid (there is no color or distinguishable smell) but I don't appear to be low on any major fluids (oil, trans, coolant) and I am wondering if there is a particular symptom this model has?

If it helps, I also get an occasional bellow of white smoke on morning start (about once or twice a week) that clears quickly.

Finally, I noticed a slight hesitation in power at low RPM (approx. 1500 RPM) which has happened once or twice in the last week. It also goes away quickly.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great!

Thanks
-Darren

Well, there is gear oil in the differential, the "center of the rear axle". Earlier CTS's (05) had a recall due to leaky pinion seals in the differential. Mine was fixed under warranty in early '08. Maybe the '07's were still affected. I'm not sure.
Sorry, but I can't speak intelligently about your other symptoms.
Good luck with it. Please let us know what you find out.
Mike.

your symptoms of the white smoke sounds like a coolant leak in to the cylinders. if you can try to see if the white smoke smells sweet. If it is you may have a very slight leak somewhere. i could be wrong so dont panic just see if you can investigate a bit more and keep us posted. The more info the bettter we can help solve this issue. Also does this only happen when you first start up or does it do it when its warmed up.

It does it only when you first start it up, about once a week. I have it going in for service next week, still have manufacturers warranty as well as my Zurich warranty, so I hope I don't have to go out of pocket.

What engine and transmission combination do you have, if I may ask? And we love pictures here on the forum if you haven't posted any yet.

the so called 'white smoke' is likely water vapor from gasoline moisture, a normal chemical byproduct that is easier seen in cold days, even in California .. where are you?

being a 2007, i would not expect coolant issues unless there has been trauma to the car or engine.

Follow up:

It was the leaky pinion seals in the differential that were not repaired correctly the first time. All good now.

Underdog, I have included a pic-Thanks for all your help everyone!

Sweet! I notice you have the rear deck spoiler. Does it also have the wire mesh grille similar to the "V"?
