Have you checked your fuse for the brake lights. If it has blown this will happen. It can get blown by something as simple as some water in you taillights.

I have not solved the problem but a friend of mine said it is probably just the censor which makes sense. He said he can probably replace the censor if i buy it so I plan on doing so very soon. Also my brake lights dont work either except for the bar brake light i have on the back of my CTS. I will let you know if replacing the censor works.

Default Help!! I have the same problem

About 3 weeks ago, I started my car and when I went to shift it out of Park, it would not budge. The brake, TC and another light was lite up. I unplugged the battery thinking it would reset but nothing happened. I had it towed to a Cadillac dealership which replaced the computer, which was covered under power terrain warranty, and something else in the braking system. Today, the same problem came up again. Please help because I don't need another huge bill toward something that doesn't fix my car. Any suggestions?

Try looking under the left rear seat for a fuse box. The fuse should be labeled "BAS". 15 amp. Pull it out and visually inspect or better yet, check it with a continuity tester. There is a BAS relay also in the same fuse block that may be bad. This info is for an 05 CTS, so it may not be relevant to your car, I don't know for sure.

there is a procedure in the manual to shift the car out of park...goes something like this...cycle ignition once, open and close door, repeat...i was shocked it works...they also explain how u can tap into the ****er console and do it that way

if your trunk light still works but none of the tail lights then replace the bulbs and thats it!!! shocking that if the bulbs go out you cant shift
