1998-2002 Chevy Blazer disc brakes on 10 and 12 bolt rear end?
I saw an article online that discussed putting disc from the Blazer on a '65 and up GTO. It stated that the rear disc setup from the blazer could be used on ANY GM 10 or 12 bolt rear from '65 up without major modifications. It did say that a couple of holes had to be drilled in the backing plate and longer wheel studs had to be used. Has anyone here done this? Is it a pain to pull out the axles in order to get the flange, bearing retainer, backing plates swapped? Any tips or suggested tools to make it easier? The article I saw wasn't very detailed.

Have not heard of trying to adapt truck disc brakes to a car. You can install 76-80 Seville or 78-80 Fleetwood rear disc set up if you can find donor car. Your bolt pattern for wheels is larger than GTO 5" on 5 vs 4 3/4" on 5. If cost is not a big issue - you could look for used late model stock car set up, which commonly use a 5 on 5 set up. I don't think it worth it though. Rear drums do ok in normal driving.

oops
I forgot to mention. The thing I saw ( on carcraft.com?) used the Seville rotors and calipers, but the "backing plate adapters?" were from a 1998-2002 Chevy Blazer. Anyway, the Blazer stuff was the missing link. I have a spare rear end with the same ratio as the one in my Coupe that I may play around with sooner or later. I like bigger wheels (20-22"), and I thought the disks would at least be a cosmetic improvement with a little better function over the drum units. I just can't stand the way the drums look with large wheels (even when they are painted).
