Ithink my brother might be having some tranny problems. He drives a 91 olds tornado. Its the 6 cyl. it might be the 3.6 im not sure. Its FWD. His troubles are that the car reves up in rpms and then goes. Its like the brakes are applied all the time. Is this a sign that the tranny is going to go out. The car has about 190k miles in it.

 

I believe the OLDS is a Cadillac with a different skin. not sure.

if it goes and manages to shift through most of the gears and go fast, it sounds like a solenoid problem.

Sounds like it's lost 1st gear, and it's taking off in 2nd. Check for codes - same as Cadillac, off and warmer.
