1994 SLS throwing P039
I did a quick search and didn't find pertinent information on this. The TCC is not locking up, and sets the check engine light and P039. Is this likely to be a simple solenoid or will it likely need to be pulled to fix it? It's got 165K.
I just bought the car with a bad rack & pinion, so I couldn't drive it until I replaced the rack yesterday so I don't know if the code was preexisting. I did notice it didn't lock up on the drive home before I fixed it.
Thanks.

ORIGINAL: slowroll
code will normally set when trans is hot, 1 hour or more of driving.

I will do a transmission service soon. I read something in another thread that adding a half-quart ofType F tranny fluidwill help the TCC to resist slipping, but mine doesn't even feel like it's trying to lock up.Thanks for your help.

RE: 1994 SLS throwing P039
After driving the car for a couple of weeks, I've noticed that when the service engine soon light comes on, the revs increase slightly. I guess that means that the TCC is trying to lock up, but is not solid. It doesn't feel locked up when the light is off, so maybe the clutch is just bad. I'll do a service and put in a little Type F and see if that helps any.
I suppose the PCM unlocks the clutch if it detects slipping in order to keep it from shredding itself and pouring crap into the oil.
