i have a 1995 cadillac seville that been showing the p039 code ive done every thing i've read on the forum the tranny shifts an drives just fine for over a year. ive' tried to order a prom chip from cadillac that won't read the code no luck the answer is tear it down & rebuild it I cant see rebuilding a good tranny does any one know where I can buy a pcm prom chip for a 1995 seville thanks

 

If it has been diagnosed by qualified tech/shop as internal to trans your options are limited used trans, reman trans, or repair yours. The car is 14 yrs old so it would be worthwhile to rebuild if out and apart. Installing updated parts with in reason,(the focus should be electrical or hard parts showing distress) not every updated part ever made. Used trans you will be looking for a 95 trans - make sure it has some kind of warranty.

 

yes same shop that has replaced fluid &filter every 2 yrs for past 13 yrs only 90 thousnd mi they say no reason to rebuild im just tired of seeing the check eng lite this caddy is well taken care of oil changes evey 3000 mi. not when computor says still need 2 find chip thanks

 

You have to buy custom made chip. They don't sell even performance chips off the shelf any more. F.A.S.T. might make you one that disables TCC with no SES light. No clue as to cost.
