Default 1983 Deville trunk spring adjustment

Hi all, new member here, found your forum while cruising the web looking for a solution to my current problem. I own a 1983 Deville limo produced by Ambruster Stageway limosuines. I have an issue with my trunk spring. It seems to be out of adjustment/weak. I am not sure if anybody knows of how to adjust it if possible, or if it can be replaced with a new one. Haven't had any luck online trying to find a new spring, everyone wants to sell me lift shocks for it. I would just tear into it, but there is a secondary HVAC unit hidden behind a panel and it is difficult to access. I'm trying to find out if the spring can be adjusted before I tear out the rear HVAC unit. Thanks for the info.

I looked them up online. Ambruster/Stageway was basically taken over, and became Federal Coach. Since many of the former workers/designers from A/S now work at Federal, maybe they can give you some guidance. If they can't, you would be looking at installing lift shocks.

Tried sending them an e-mail, we'll see if anything comes out of it. I think I tried calling them once regarding my driver's center window, it had been busted out. I don't remember getting good customer service over the phone.
