Default Immigration Revolt

IMO, the people spoke loud and clear, and the message was heard..

Thanks to your hard work, the Grand Bargainers were beat back on amnesty. They never understood that Americans wanted enforcement first. Here is a list of these Senators and their phone numbers. Tell them good luck getting re-elected!

Lindsey Graham (R-SC) (202) 224-5972
John Kyl (R-AZ) (202) 224-4521
Mel Martinez (R-FL) (202) 224-3041
Arlen Specter (R-PA) (202) 224-4254
Richard Durbin (D-IL) (202) 224-2152
Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) (202) 224-3841
Edward Kennedy (D-MA) (202) 224-4543
Patrick Leahy (D-VT) (202) 224-4242
Ken Salazar (D-CO) (202) 224-5852
Charles Schumer (D-NY) (202) 224-6542
John McCain (R-AZ) (202) 224-2235

And congratulations to these Senators for voting the right way:
Kit Bond (R-MO)
Sam Brownback (R-KS)
Richard Burr (R-NC)
Norm Coleman (R-MN)
Susan Collins (R-ME)
Pete Domenici (R-NM)
John Ensign (R-NV)
Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
Ben Nelson (R-NE)
Mark Pryor (D-AR)
Ted Stevens (R-AK)
John Warner (R-VA)
Jim Webb (D-VA)

how do the losers behave?

WASHINGTON, June 24 (UPI)—U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., said Sunday she is “looking at” the possibility of reviving the fairness doctrine for U.S. broadcasters. Feinstein, speaking on “Fox News Sunday” with Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., said talk radio in particular has presented a one-sided view of immigration reform legislation being considered by the Senate.

[/i] [/align] The immigration mess showed that not every divisive issue in American politics is partisan. Much has been made of the split among Republicans over immigration, but in the end it was the division among Senate Democrats that was the most surprising

The key question this raises is whether Democrats, who regained their congressional majority with candidates who might not adhere to every tenet of party orthodoxy, can control those folks when they need them.

If the Democratic leadership can't control its troops, then it won't be any more successful than were the Republicans in recent years when it comes to getting Congress to tackle the big stuff that Washington, D.C. seems unable to solve

the 2006 sweep wasn't necessarily the result of a public decision that the Republican worldview was wrong. Rather it was the public's judgment about competence.

Democrats who were sent to Congress from the conservative states last November did not necessarily share the views and values of Nancy Pelosi and Edward Kennedy. The margin of defeat was so large because a majority of senators up for re-election in 2008 decided it was in their best interests to oppose the bill.

Interesting note. Here in Fall River Massachusetts "Quaker Mills" a fabric company has finally made the jump to Mexico and laid off 645 workers. These folks although "legal" immigrants say they can find no work available in the area now that their un-employment benefits are coming to a halt because they can't speak english!
They blame this on the management of Quaker Mills for requiring that all their supervisors learn Portuguese so that they could speak with the workers.
They now say they would accept the menial jobs being performed by the illegal spanish speaking immigrants so that they can feed their families, and want to see them "out of here."

that story repeats itself a million times here.
i'm fortunate to speak several languages and i do just fine, sort of.

if i wanted to work a 9 to 5 job, i would have to take a job at 1/3 of what
i used to take 10 years ago. it matters not that one has a college education as
enough illegal aliens also have one and are willing to work for much less.
Interesting enough, the unskilled illegal laborers are demanding higher and higher
pay and now will sit out in the HomeDepot parking lot unless they can get
$75 to $100 plus lunch for a 6 to 8 hr day.

the competition is not restricted to the unskilled labor as many believe it to be.
the competition with the illegal aliens also goes into the middle and upper management
jobs and, get ready for this, the admissions into a college. California now threats illegal
aliens as "State Residents" and waives many school fees.

You may think it is a joke, but there are some that now claim to be "illegal aliens" for the sole
purpose of getting public assistance where "legal residents" cannot. These services include, but
are not limited to FREE health, Free transportation, Free school, Free food, Free ER hospital,
Free legal services, FREE lodging, FREE clothing, etc ..

NO FREE gasoline that i know yet! give it time .. i hear that Hugo from Venezuela is working
on that idea.
