Female rapists on the loose
Police arrested Rosemary Chakwizira (28) and sisters Sophie (26) and Netsai (24) Nhokwara.
Among their alleged victims are a soldier and a police officer whom they allegedly abused without using condoms.
They were jointly charged with 24-year-old Thulani Ngwenya, who was driving the vehicle that gave them away.
National police spokesman Superintendent Andrew Phiri said the case had reinvigorated law enforcement agents.
“We believe that these female rapists are dotted around the country.
“Our units on the ground are carrying out investigations,” he said.
Harare police spokesman Inspector James Sabau yesterday warned men to remain vigilant following the arrest of the three suspects.
He said the frequency and spacing of the attacks showed that more women were involved.
“People should not relax now that these suspects have been arrested. We believe a syndicate is operating in various parts of the country,” he said.
“For some time, we have been facing challenges in getting a breakthrough because members of the public were not forthcoming.
“It should be known that the public is our key. These people associate with other community members and one can easily notice their unusual way of life.
