can you ID this car?
Of course, it's a Porsche Speedster, circuit about 1956. Those are slide in side windows with a flap in the drivers side for paying tolls. I owned one for several years until the kids started arriving. Took about 45 seconds to raise or lower top.
They rode as soft as a Buick and yet no one at the time could catch them around turns.

I must say that over the years of owning "exotic" cars, the one drawing the most attention was the one I owned in the mid seventies. It was a black Lotus "Europa" with a "hockey" stick red trim down the sides, that I used as a "commuter" car for a weekly trip from Boston down to JFK airport on Long Island. Down "95" in Connecticut there was no way I could stop traffic from backing up. Whether from cars seeing me coming in their rearview mirrors and slowing down to get alongside for a lookor seeing me ahead and speeding up for the same look. That car however much fun was a big strain on the "butt." Believe that's where the phrase "like riding on rails" was derived from. (Lord, save you from crossing railroad tracks!)
Yep, but what is not indicated in the photo is that the top came up to your belt buckle. Mine was all black with a red stripe extending from the headlights to the aft end of the top where it expanded to include the whole tailfin. (And of course the four cylinder engine was in the rear)
