Default Can anyone help me? DMV driving handbook

Hey Guys, I'll be visiting to USA soon. I already have my international driver's license. But I am not aware of traffic rules in USA. Does any one know from where I can get information regarding traffic lights, speed limit of car etc? If you people have some ideas, please help me. But be true to your word, as I don’t want it to be “blind leading the blind” Thanks for your time.

cdboyjones.... well, welcome first to the Forum, and when you arrive for your visit, welcome to the US of A......
its pretty simple over here... first of all we drive on theRIGHT SIDEof the road, and we drive as fast as we can.......(just kidding) we do have speed limits.driving hereshould be no different than where you are....??? by the way, from where do you come?... do you have signs on the roads?ie: STOP SIGNS?, TRAFFIC LIGHTS?, SPEED LIMIT SIGNS?
what State in the USAwill you be driving in? you could check with that States Department of Transportation for your driving pleasure while visiting the USA. please give the Forum the dates of your arrival, and departure. we, the USA needs to be extra careful while your here.... lol

cdboyjones,

where in the States are you going?

do can do a search for < DMV California > .. the road rules are on line.
the same applies for many of the other States but if you get California,
you got 99.9% of rules in the country

DMV = Dept of Motor Vehicles: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/

Here is the California handbook: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/dl600.pdf

======================

Rick,

funny .. funny .. glad to see you back . and with humor.

Well, your profile shows Miami, Florida and your zip code is from the state of Washington. I would believe that the country of Florida would have the similar laws to the USA.

Just one word of advise if you are coming from Great Britain and are use to driving on the left. The only problem we Americans find in driving on the opposite side of the road while there, are in the exiting of "round abouts." (called "rotories here) It's a challange to exit in the correct lane and a "co-pilot" becomes a great help.
While in England we got into the habit of slowing so that we would be following other drivers at the "round abouts" and just followed them.
Our national speed limit on the "interstates" is 65MPH.(you do the conversion) Several states post 70.

Let's not forget the Bahamas and down-under.

I do believe though that in Florida and Washington they still drive on the right hand side of the road.

Hi, First of all, welcome to US, the country that is always on the move. It is good that you have an international driving license. Here we drive on the left side of the road. Do some webs search on traffic rules and signs so that you can be familiar with the rules of the road. If you want to get information regarding traffic lights, speed limit of car, speed cameras and the most important thing, which we all fear i.e. hidden cops who can catch you any where and that too red handed, have a look at http://www.trapster.com/rl/Trapster.php.It really gets you going on the roads with a confidence. Wish u a safe driving.
