I spent the last 2 weeks with boat fever. Let's see 300 gallon fuel capacity at 4 bucks a gallon?

Lost the fever for the time being, maybe forever.

Well Gary, the marina across the bay from me gets a hundred dollars a foot now and he's booked to capacity. Don't know how many boats will get away from the dock this summer! I hear the rate at the Cape marinas is $160.00 a foot.
As for the price of gas really bothering anyone, they still have traffic jams in Europe and they have been paying these prices for over thirty years. Of course the motorcycle gets a lot more "winter" use there, and that's not a bad thing!
And the pickup and SUV are still the favorites at the car dealers except they aren't selling as many of them.
For gosh sakes, even those aircraft engineers at Saab have come up with an SUV. (What's next? a Swedish pick-up?)

NEWS ! ! !
no one cares. The planet's 3rd world countries are following our lead .. cars?
more .. more ... did we say MORE!

By NBC News

BEIJING - "Sha Heping was a proud husband on New Year’s Eve as he put down the deposit for a $15,000 subcompact with the optional sunroof, a gift for his wife who used to commute to work by bicycle every day, even in biting winter cold. With savings from over 20 years of service as a Beijing government functionary, Sha is the latest statistic underpinning the world’s hottest market.China sold an estimated 7 million vehicles last year, extending its lead over Japan as the world’s second-biggest auto market after the United States, and like Sha, most of the buyers were first-time car owners."

First two pictures is in 1987 / 1990's,
3rd pic is present .. BEIJING .

The oil supply remains constant,
demand is rising exponentially.
everyone wants a car .. or two.

Still, no one cares .. our govt sure doesnt.
OH .. by Thanksgiving, gas at the pump WILL BE $5+

Gas gusslers like the Allante will have their values drop .. faster.
you can quote me on it !
1993 Allante models will get steam rolled.
sales of Escalades .. ouch !

I heard something either on Morning Joe or Glen Beck that cheap oil is gone forever, as the Saudis now have to pay more per barrell to get it out of the ground. Istead of 2 or 3 bucks a barrell maybe 5 bucks a barrell. Let's see that would still be a gross profit of about 115 bucks a barrell?

Simply explained, the overhead for the Saudi is higher now ..
They have a vision and are going at it with a passion.

A great thing it is to spend the oil profits this way instead of terrorism.
At one point, they are going to be VERY interested in protecting their interest
from the nuts. That in my opinion, will help bring stability.

So I say, let them build the 8th Wonder, let them have something to lose,
let them think about dealing with the nuts.

BTW, hotel rates at that tower hotel, the Burj Al Lam, start at $4,000 per night ? ? ?

note:

- As of 7 April 2008, Burj Dubai has reached a height of 629m (2,064ft), with 160 completed floors.

- The total budget for the Burj Dubai project is about US$ 4.1 billion and for the entire new 'Downtown Dubai', US$ 20 billion.

- Burj Dubai ( برج دبي ) is currently under construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and is currently the tallest man-made structure on Earth. Construction began on September 21, 2004, and it is expected to be completed and ready for occupation in September 2009.

- rumoured final height is over 940m (3,084ft)

but there are at least three more supre structures coming:

- The Al Burj, on a site near Dubai Marina. Speculation has suggested various heights between 700m (2,297ft) and 1,200m (3,937ft).

- The proposed 1,001m (3,284ft) Burj Mubarak al-Kabir in Kuwait as part of a development project called Madinat al-Hareer (City of Silk). The project also includes an Olympic stadium, residences, hotels, and retail facilities.

- The Mile-High Tower, a recently announced skyscraper planned for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, would be almost twice as tall as Burj Dubai if completed as planned by Riyadh-based Kingdom Holdings.

In the '70s, we were doing the same thing in Iran and then Carter happened ... !
ohhh yeahhh .. Nobel Peace Prize ? What a joke. But that is another subject.

gasoline anyone ?

Lets see ...
AAA will tow me 100 miles, 4 times per year or bring me 5 gallons of fuel 4 times per year,
all for the $55 membership.

100 miles at around 18 mpg, works out to be about 5 gallons of fuel ..

5 gal x $4.03 x 4 times = $80
5 gal x $5.50 x 4 times = $110

hmmmmm ...
so, if I drive 15 miles / day, how many memberships per year should I buy?
