Default Might be buying a Seville STS soon ...

Hello everyone,

Like the title says ... Hopefully in a few weeks I will be the owner of a Seville STS. I've been looking at a lot of them, but here's my dilemma. I can afford a certified used one, but I really don't want to spend that kind of money. I'm going to look at an '01 STS fully loaded with 82k miles. What should I be inspecting on a STS with this kind of mileage?? Asking price is 9500
There's another STS around where I live with 44k fully loaded but its an '03 ... asking price of 18600.

Any advice or comments??

Thanks,
Gianni

thre is nothing weird to look for.
the standar inspection things apply to most any Cadillac, excuding the XLR & Allantes.

maybe if there is not maint history or shows no coolant replacement in 4+ years, i be doing a
headgasket test since a headgasket failure is one of the most expensive repairs for a Caddy.

If you have a local mechanic that you trust, before purchase take the car to him and for about 65 bucks he can do a full inspection, including but not limited to, on the lift to check for frame damage, brakes, rotors, check all fluids, etc. etc. Well worth the price. What would the warranty cover on the certified auto?
It's always a hard decision to choose, just went through that with my daughter.

Good luck.

I think Giannireferring to the Cadillac Certified program.
A certified cadillac goes thru a 110+ point inspection at the dealer. To be certified though, the vehiclehas to be still under the original factory warranty (4yr/50K). So a 2003 would be the oldest model year to date that could qualify.
The cadillac certification warranty would get you 6yr/100K of comprehensive coverage like the factory warranty, or really 2 addtional years since the factory warrantyis 4yr/50K.
Thecost is $1500. No deductible.

In my case, a certified warrantywould only extend coverage to about 60K miles. I'm bettin most major repairs occur above 60K.
On the other hand, a certified warranty covers just about everything, even brake rotors.Anew set of rotors installed could cost you $$. Not to mention a few electronic gremlins. So, I guess its not too bad of a deal.
