Default like big full sized cars

Hello I like the tradional american sytle cadilliacs. The most recent cadillac that fills this critiera is the fleet wook made up 97. My next most recent favorite would be the devil which latter become the DTs. Although I see in dtd forum you can not get the collum shiift or bench seat option unless you are a government agency or commerical fleet buyers.

I like large, v8 powered boats with bench seats and collum shift.

The new cadillacs look nice. I see on american tv there is often comparsion in american cars as to how european there ride is. Its what they aim seems to be. Being from the uk used to european ride cars. Bmw is the most popular small salloon car. So eurpean ride is nothing unique.

The tradional american car with the v8 is something different the sort of car that the big 3 seem to have stopped making in the last 10 years. With the exeption of chrsytler that has some nice retro cars. These are however more a parady of an american car than reflect what is driven.

The crown victoria and lincon town car which ceased in 2011 seemed to be the last of the real american cars. Cars that were not retro but had frame bodies v8 power beanch seats and collum shift and a nice big body with large flat trunk.

I am 34 and have been interested in cars since a kid. When i was a kid and read american car magazines that my dad would bring back from buiness trips the cars in apart from the japaenese were all different.

Now i see cars sold vws ford focuses are the same.

Although v6 seems to have taken on from v8 as larger car staple.

Also i see americans still have large trucks that are uniquley american like the esculade. My favorite current cadilliac.

American car market now seems to consist of large trucks and small european cars or japanesse cars and americans copies.

I wonder if the buyers of large american cars have now switched to buying trucks which is why american car markers dont made larger cars but they make lots of large trucks aimed at the private buyer.

I understand that divergence between cars and trucks is also related to american legislation. That means that car manufatures have to make cars that are more efficent where as there is expetions on trucks.

In the UK where i live in the last 20 years there has been a change from small petrol cars to small diesel cars.

There has also been an increases in the number of larger big engines cars on the market.

When i was a child in 1985 my dad had a jaguar xjs v12. At the time this was jaguar engine was the only v12 engine other than the lambo on sale in the uk.

There was also only one main stay v8 the rover v8 and old buick engine and the mercedes 500 had a v8.

Now there is many many v8s jaguars , bmws , mercedes fords vauxhalls.

This could be because of the inceaseing divided in wealth in the uk over the last 30 years. The UK used to be quite socialist when until the 80s.

With social housing for the masses, free at source university health care and trains and commanding heights owned by the government.

With the international finance since early 1990s there has been a rapid incease in wealth for wealthest, with deregulation and transfer of capital etc. As has been world wide but more in the uk than say germany or possibily even the states relative to population.

Any ways i diegress.

What I like about cadilliac is the big shap cars that where a staple on american tv which was popular here in the 80s and americans films. Will a full sized carpice or cadillacs being common place on the screen. From belinda carlise videos to cop shows.

THey did not sell any american market cars here until the early 90s when chrisytler started selling the Jeeps and then ford the explorer. Christler started selling neons in the late 90s and cadillica finally started selling one model in the uk sevilie.

Now a lot more american cars are comming to the uk. Chryslers sells more than one model.

The chevy is also being used to sell cars in the uk. But the name is added to cheap cars the daweo car. I think this was short sighted of GM as chevy had a strong brand from movies in the uk even though they sold no cars now GM has cashed in the name by using the badge on cheap eastern motors.

GM has always sold cars here with the name vauxhall they use opel on conitnent.

Finally when americans and europe appear to have access to each other cars in a greater way than every before.

It just a shame from my view but not an accounants, that american cars are now becoming more like european with cheap interors.

Rather than the large american cars that people used to drive v8s etc that were never sold here because of size and fuel costs here are much higher.

Still it is nice to see cadillacs on the road here even if they are kinda small.

If you want a typical american style 5.0 v8 you have to buy a german car or jaguar or the very impressive chrystler 300 retrio car or another retor car like the charger.

Why does gm not hide the fuel cap any more?
