just got my first cadillac...
Well i stopped in a year or so ago asking a question about my dads 1990 cadillac eldorado and never came back. Well he has decided to pass it down to me since he doesent drive it near as much as he used to. I usually only like classic cars and trucks but i really like this car. its a two owner car. runs great and most everything is new. new computer, heater core, water pump, power steering pump, compressor for the shocks, distributor, the in-car control center, ignition switch (i also bypassed VAT's), idle solenoid, injectors, etc. really too much to list. it runs like a top. my dad never could find anybody to touch it so most of the work was done in the back yard. one time i tried to pull the codes and it wouldent work. i know you can read them in the car but it sure would be nice to be able to use the OBD port. My only plans are to add a decent radio as the one in it sounds like $hit. I am restoring a 66 chevy truck right now and i was gonna use a IL6 or maybe a 4.8l for gas mileage but now that i have this car that gets decent mileage ill probably throw in a big block. or maybe build a 383 stroker motor... sounds like fun to me. im going down in a few weeks to pick it up. ill post some pics then.

Excellent! You are talking about a 19 year old car, in my parts that gets you into most custom and classic cruises as we used the 15 year rule. In another year it will be 20, you got yourself another classic! I personally like that vintage of Eldorado but it really had poor reviews wehn it was new. Traditional Cadillac buyers couldn't tell it apart from a Grand Am so sales were hurt. They still are among the best handling Cadillacs ever produced. The 4.1 V8 was thought to be underpowered at 135 HP but I am sure it will be adequate for cruising.

thanks, i enjoy driving it. it is a quick car. my dad had it to 120 one day and let off because it scared him. its a 4.5 not a 4.1 .
The 4.1 was exclusive to Cadillac. It started out at 130/135 horsepower in 1983, but in 1988 it went to 4.5 liters and 155 bhp, and in 1990 higher 9.5:1 compression and multi-point fuel injection boosted output to a more responsive 180 horses at 4300 rpm and 240 lbs/ft torque at a low 2400 rpm.
