Default RE: Hi Everyone!

engines are generally equipped with a certai thermostat...running a slightly hotter t-stat wont really hurt anything, but the engine will just generally run hotter..and i would see no reason for someone to do that...as many people will put a lower tempt t-stat as a performance modification. really, the only way to find out would be to remove the t-stat and get the brand and numbers on it, and check to see what temp it is made for...

Thanx for the info, will give that a try sometime. Oh, do you know a ballpark on how much the thermostats are? I know the ones for my old Lebaron were like $4, but the Cadillacs probably more than that? Is it more expensive to get one that keeps a lower temp, or about the same? If ya don't have any clue I'll find out from the stores and stuff, just thought you might have an off hand estimate. Thanks again, later.

prices are usually about the same, and a thermostat that will fit your caddy also probably fits just about every other GM product from that year.

My brother had also the same problem with his cadillac and his dealer said that it should be replaced. Then he purchased a Jeep thermostat on line for a reasonable price. Though I forgot to ask him where he bought it... Well, I guess I just have to ask him this coming weekend..

Goodluck...
