Default 2000 deville rack and pinion

So i have a 2000 deville and the mount for the rack and pinion broke. I have never undertaken a project like this and i dont have a maintenence manual. Is there anything special i need to pay attention to?

Smile Deville 2004 rack & pinion replacement

Replacing the rack & pinion steering unit on my 2004 Deville - base model. Currently researching parts and procedures on doing the repair work myself. I could be wrong but it seems as though finding such "How to" information is more secretive than the manufacturing process for monatomic elements! I'll update this forum of fellow enthusiast with my final results and hopefully plenty of pics and instructions. Tah, tah till then.

It's not going to fun on jack stands. Take tie rods loose p/s hose have 18mm fittings. sub frame needs unbolted from floor. You need to be careful when removing rear sub frame bolts.Unbolt for intermediate shaft and make sure it comes off steering gear before sub frame is loose from floor. It is possible to break shaft. Rear motor mount has to come loose from sub frame also. Then unbolt gear from sub frame and snake it out. Reverse to install, toe in will need to be reset afterwards.
