Question 1979 cadillac phaeton

I just bought a 1979 cadillac phaeton coupe. western saddle firemist paint. 35,000 miles. I was wondering where you can find the paint code number on the car. Also what size are the original tires. I seen somwhere they are suppose to be 1.3 inch white walls. I found the tire size on the door GR78-15/8. It has p255/75R15 on it now.

Hi Tim, how's it going?

Can't remember about the paint code, I knew it when I got mine painted, but it escapes me. I'll have to think about that.

Tires are supposed to be 215-75-R15, 1.3" whitewall. You could go 225-75 in a pinch, but the 215s really look better in my opinion. I'm a bit OCD about tires on these old Caddies, and 225s just look at bit too wide when looking down the side of the car to me.

Hope that helps, you know where to find me if you have any other questions.

Fisher body tag should be on drivers side of firewall near / above brake booster. Paint code will be on it, however that would be the factory color, not a custom color that it could have been painted, during conversion. Tires translate to 225/75 or 70 R15. The days of letters and 78 series tires are long since gone. Coker tire maybe your only source for wide whitewalls.
