Default Transmission input speed sensor

Hi everyone cant say i am very new here because i have searched this forum many times. I have a 96 Eldorado touring coupe that has a code P0717 for a bad trans input speed sensor. Sometimes i can drive the car for days without a problem but when it malfunctions the Check engine light and the Service transmission comes up. I was told the trans would have to be pulled to access the side pan and it would cost me 2,000 to fix. Is there any possible way to remove the sensor without pulling the whole trans. Thanks to all in advance for the help

Trans needs to come out. Input speed sensor is beneath channel plate not in side cover. A lot more disassemby is required. Doing it the car isnt worth having to do twice. You will want to replace wiring harness along with sensor.
